I eventually get the necessary things done, but still...I think I'd be more productive if I got the unpleasant things done first. Enjoy your "cuties". :)Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07204177879133147487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322268008200499912.post-77678103213327075392015-02-10T17:32:25.214-08:002015-02-10T17:32:25.214-08:00I wasn't impressed with Tattler lids either, t...I wasn't impressed with Tattler lids either, though some people have good success with them I just didn't. The Weck rubbers are thinner than the ones I buy for the bail jars, I'm not sure what that means longterm, but thought I'd mention it.
You're welcome for the link, I'm just thrilled to find someone else who uses/appreciates the old style jars. :)Mrs. Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06356736479776982230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322268008200499912.post-67248816745088634432015-02-10T17:07:21.861-08:002015-02-10T17:07:21.861-08:00I have some Weck jars and absolutely love them, bu...I have some Weck jars and absolutely love them, but yes, they're very expensive. The small Weck rubbers fit the glass lids, but I have to cut the tabs off so the ring will screw on, which makes it hard to open the jar, especially pressure canned foods. I tried Tattler rings but they aren't wide enough (inside to outside and I had a lot of failures. And I find I have to use the old style rings as the new ones aren't deep enough to grab the jar threads with a thick glass lid and rubber ring, luckily I have a huge box full of them.
Thanks so much for the link to the rubbers for the bail top jars!Night*Skyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03700437431025546557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2322268008200499912.post-70526464305239955312015-02-10T16:56:50.060-08:002015-02-10T16:56:50.060-08:00When we lived in Ohio I could buy the jar rubbers ...When we lived in Ohio I could buy the jar rubbers locally at Lehman's, but now that we're in Tennessee I mail order them from here: http://www.allamericancanner.com/canningrings.htm
I buy the 3rd ones from the top of the page, I do have some wide mouth bails, but I don't can in them, just my regular mouths.
The glass lids couldn't be used on a regular jar without a lot of modification, the only reusable option for regular jars would be Tattler lids. Another nice, albeit spendy, option would be Weck jars. Where do you find the rubbers? Brand name? And have you used the flat glass lids on regular jars?Night*Skyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03700437431025546557noreply@blogger.com
